Ebbsfleet United have snapped up striker Moses Ashikodi, two years after he left the club to join Kettering Town.
The 25 year old striker returns to Stonebridge Road after leaving York City on a free transfer and renews his association with Ebbsfleet in time for pre-season training.
Team Manager Liam Daish commented “Moses has sometimes found it hard to settle at some clubs, but the last time he was with us was the most productive of his career. He was happy here and as good as gold. He is exactly the sort of striker I wanted to bring in. He was only with us for 16 games last time around and scored eleven goals, and I will be delighted if he can keep up that strike rate.”
MyFootballclub Chairman Keith Handley added “It is great to see Moses back at the club for a second period. His return is a very exciting development in the building of the squad for the coming season. The joint playing squad appeal between MyFootballclub and Fleet Trust continues at http://www.fleetsos.co.uk/ We thank all who have generously contributed towards this appeal to help us build the squad for the coming season. ”
Ashikodi started out his football career with Millwall in 2003 and went on to sign for West Ham United on a free transfer, being loaned out to Gillingham in 2005.
The striker then went on to have a brief spell with Rangers, before signing for Watford in January 2007.
Since then, Ashikodi has had spells with Bradford City, Swindon Town and Hereford United on loan before signing for Shrewsbury Town on 2009.
The Nigerian born striker then went on to play for Kettering Town before signing for Ebbsfleet in January 2010.
Just six months down the line and he returned to Kettering, before having a loan spell at York City, where he was part of the team that gained promotion to the Football League via the Play Offs and won the FA Trophy, but it was at Ebbsfleet that he made his name in non league, scoring 11 goals in just 16 appearances.
