Leon Camier had another solid weekend in the eni FIM Superbike World Championship at Imola.Leon Camier at Imola 1

He finished seventh in both races and but for an issue with his tyres he would most likely be challenging the podium positions in both races.

There were several battles throughout the races and did well to bring his bike home in both races with the issues that he was having.

His teammate Jules Cluzel had a bit more of a mixed weekend with a DNF and a top twelve finish in the second race of the day. In race one he crashed out and in race two but for going on in the final chicane he would have finished in the top ten but he lost a place when he went straight on.

Tom Sykes was the man that led the riders’ home with a lights to flag victory in both races that saw him move to the top of the Championship changes.Leon Camier race at Imola

Speaking after the race a satisfied Camier, said: “For some reason the tyre span on the rim today and there was nothing more that I could do, because I was pushing so hard and adapting my style to try and cope with the chatter.

“In the parts of the track where I didn’t have chatter I was really fast and I think I could have caught the guys in front and challenged for the podium, but when I got to the points where the bike had chatter, there was nothing more I could do and I was so limited.

“On a positive note though we did a good job this weekend and without the problems we were strong. I think electronically we still need to improve, we’ve got it working really well with what we’ve got, but we need to try and come up with some better strategies that will help me put more power to the ground.”

The season now moves onto the Moscow Raceway in Russia for the next round of the season over the weekend of the 20th and 21st July.
