Kent’s Jake Dixon continued his excellent run of results with another podium in the latest round of the Moto2 Championship at the Red Bull Ring.
Dixon was third in the race in Austria on Sunday afternoon, netting his third consecutive podium as a result.
Dixon set the sixth best time in qualifying, but the three-position grid penalty imposed on Tony Arbolino allowed him to start from fifth place. The Brit was very competitive from the start and was in the top 5 throughout the race.
At the front, Celestino Vietti, Alonso López and Aron Canet, had got away from Dixon at the front. As the laps ticked by, the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider gradually closed the gap to the group in front until he caught them up.
On the last lap, Dixon was able to overtake Canet to finish third and thus add his fourth podium of the year.
Speaking after the weekend, Dixon said: “I am super happy because I have been suffering a lot throughout the weekend. I want to thank my team because if it was not for them, I would not be here.
“In the race I have had to recover a big gap with the leaders that I would rather not have had to recover, I was more than two seconds behind. I have given my all, I have gone to the maximum until the end.”
