Charlton announced that creative midfielder, Cristian Ceballos, had joined Sint-Truiden on a permanent deal on Wednesday.

Ceballos joined the Addicks from Tottenham in the summer of 2015, but made just three Championship starts for the club.

The former Barcelona youngster is now 24-years-old, and spent last season on loan in Belgium with Sint-Truiden.

He has arguably been Charlton’s stand out player in the pre-season campaign, but has not done enough to force his way into Karl Robinson’s plans. Here are the manager’s thoughts:

“Cristian came in and put in a real effort this pre-season. Like Tex, we’re sad to see him go, but it is a deal that is best for us as a club, and him as a player. We wish him all the be‎st.”

Robinson said after the Dover match, that fans would have to be patient regarding new arrivals.

He hinted ‎that another couple of players would have to leave before he could embark on a new recruitment drive.

Ceballos would have been one part of that jigsaw, and despite paying this tribute to Naby Sarr, it would be no surprise if the big defender followed Ceballos through the exit door:

“I thought Naby Sarr was excellent alongside Ez (Konsa) against Dover, so he starts jumping into your mind about decisions that you have to make.

“I can only judge players from what they do in front of me, not on what’s gone before,‎” said Robinson.

Sarr is one of the club’s high earners, and if the Addicks could move him on, it would free up a significant amount for Robinson’s budget.

‎One deal that is likely to go through in the next couple of days, is the return of Jay Dasilva from Chelsea on a season long loan.

There are stories circulating that suggest Charlton are interested in bringing former players Josh Wright and Darren Bent back to The Valley.

Midfielder Wright has a year to run on his contract with Gillingham, and it is an area where the Addicks are well stocked. Here are Robinson’s thoughts:

“Listen, Josh Wright has been here before, he’s a player that I very much like, he’s somebody who I think could definitely play at the top end of League One.But we’ve got Crofty, Kashi, Joe and Jake, that’s a lot of players in there.

“And when you talk about him maybe playing as a number 10, we’ve got Karlan (Ahearne-Grant), Ricky (Holmes), Tariqe (Fosu), so right now it’s not a position that we’re looking to fill.

“But he’s certainly somebody who I really like, I do like his talent and mentality but right now, we’re fully occupied in those positions.”

‎The manager dismissed stories that he had enquired about Derby striker, Darren Best.
