Rested from a week without an evening game, Welling United travel to Alfreton in Derbyshire on Saturday.
Victory over Chester last Saturday, eased Welling into a comfortable mid-table position and they are now looking to reach the sixty point mark as quickly as they can, and a possible top ten finish.
Players are now returning from illness and injury and manager Jamie Day will be hoping he has the luxury of competition for places.
Ross Lafayette played the full ninety minutes last Saturday and sealed the points with a late goal following Vasilious Karagiannis’ opener. Toby Ajala also returned and impressed off the bench.
Day hopes to have Alfie Mawson and Jack Obersteller available this weekend however Barney Williams has performed so well at left back that the latter may not be an automatic choice. The centre back pairing of Blaine Hudson and Quade Taylor may also be difficult to dislodge following their clean sheet last weekend.
It may be too soon for Tom Bender to return and Jake Gallagher will be absent as he starts his suspension following his dismissal against Chester.
Alfreton looked nailed on for a play-off place a few weeks ago but they have now dropped into sixth place following defeat at Halifax, a draw at home to Nuneaton, and a three point deduction for fielding an ineligible player earlier in the season.
They have only lost twice at home all season and won 2-1 at Park View Road in January. Josh Law put the Reds ahead but Kurtis Guthrie levelled just before the break. Shaun Harrad’s 58th minute penalty restored the visitors’ lead and they held on to claim the three points.
It was announced that Day had signed a contract for another two years last weekend and Welling will be looking to celebrate with a good result on Saturday.
