Aldershot v Welling United Preview

Following their comeback victory at Dartford on Boxing Day, Welling United will look to build upon their success at Aldershot Town.Welling United

Despite starting the season on minus ten points, and with an entirely new squad, the Shots have dragged themselves out of the bottom four and will be looking to move away from the relegation area as quickly as they can.

Although they lost three-one at Forest Green Rovers on Boxing Day, they won their last home game by thrashing Tamworth 6-0, with six different players netting.

It will be difficult for both teams playing just 48 hours after playing on gruelling heavy pitches and each side will be looking to utilise their squads to the full.

Jamie Day will be pleased to be able to welcome back Blaine Hudson after his one match ban and Kurtis Guthrie will be available to start following his winning goal against Dartford after coming on as a substitute.

Jake Gallagher will still be out for at least another week but Connor McLaren’s return at Princes Park was a welcome sight for Wings supporters. Luis Cumbers also got nearly an hour under his belt for the first time in sixteen months,

When the two sides met at Park View Road in September, Alex Dyer’s fifteenth minute goal was sufficient to win the three points for Welling in a tight game. Both clubs will be ready to battle on what could well be another heavy pitch.
