For the second Saturday in a row, Welling United are on their travels, although this weekend, they have a much shorter trip.
Having been more than a little unfortunate to leave high-flying Macclesfield Town empty handed, they now visit Aldershot Town who are also struggling to find form.
So far in 2015, neither club have claimed a point. The Shots have won just once since the end of November and have only scored one goal since the turn of the year.
Meanwhile, Welling have also been beaten in all five games this year. However their display against the Silkmen last week was very encouraging and gave real hope that the win they need to start pulling away from the relegation zone is imminent.
Both clubs have amassed 33 points so far this season, but Aldershot have achieved their total in one game fewer.
Jake Gallagher and Anthony Jeffries will be unavailable through suspension whilst Rowan Vine has left the club this week, in search of regular first team football.
Jody Brown will still have plenty of attacking options at his disposal. Jason Williams, on loan from Southend United, scored on his Wings debut last Saturday, having already been involved in Welling’s opener. Reece Harris has impressed since signing from East Thurrock, and already has one Welling goal under his belt.
Brown may also opt to play Dominic Vose in a more advanced role. He netted last weekend too. Another possibility is a recall for Kieron St. Aimie who has looked lively off the bench in the last two games.
When the two teams met in December, Welling claimed the three points with a 3-1 victory at Park View Road. Tyrone Marsh, now at Ebbsfleet, notched twice with St. Aimie also on the scoresheet. Glenn Wilson was on target for Aldershot.
In the corresponding game at the Recreation Ground last season, the Shots claimed a 3-1 victory that was not without controversy. Ross Lafayette put Welling ahead, but Blaine Hudson was adjudged to have committed a foul in the penalty area with just over twenty minutes remaining. He was dismissed and Brett Williams converted the spot kick. Millwall loanee, and former Welling youth team player Aiden O’Brien, then added a brace to see the hosts home.
Three penalties conceded in the last three games haven’t helped Welling’s cause but the football they played last week will give them the confidence to know that if they avoid further defensive mishaps, they can claim their first win under Brown’s management.
