The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship returns this weekend after a month’s break and Wrotham based Airwaves Racing are looking forward to it.Airwaves Racing3

This weekend the team and the action heads north from Kent to the picturesque Cheshire track of Oulton Park.

The team go into the race on the back of three top ten finishes and go into this weekend in optimistic mood, after they went through an intensive testing regime that saw Michael Caine put the third New Generation Touring Car through its paces for the first time ahead of it joining the grid.

Mat Jackson is looking to have a good reason to celebrate his 32nd on Monday and that would be to take his first podium of the 2013 season.Mat Jackson4

Looking ahead to the weekend, Jackson said: “We’ve been working really hard during the five week break and we’re confident we’ve made some positive changes with the car. The testing time that we’ve had has been invaluable and hopefully it will hold us in good stead for Oulton Park.

“Oulton’s a great place to race at. Its proper circuit which breaks the mould and I’m really looking forward to getting back out there again this weekend.”

Teammate Aron Smith is also in confident move ahead of the race and is hoping to improve on his top five finish last time out.

Speaking ahead of round four of the championship, Aron said: “Off the back of our most successful weekend to date I think everybody is rightly filled with confidence at Airwaves Racing. We’ve made quiet big changes heading to Oulton so effectively it’s a new car once again; and from the testing we’ve had during the gap I think there is a lot more potential down the route we are now going.”Aron Smith 1

“Oulton Park is a great circuit with a big mix of corners and we’ve developed something with that in mind so fingers crossed we’ll hit the ground running in free practise on Saturday morning. The aim is to build on our 5th place finish in race three at Thruxton and hopefully move forward. With the work that’s gone on behind the scenes I definitely think that it’s possible.”

Liam Griffin is hoping to extend his lead in the Jack Sears Trophy in his Addison-Lee Motorbace Ford Focus, despite not having the best of times with two races where he hasn’t finished in the last round.

The BTCC action returns to ITV4 this weekend as the races are featured live on Sunday afternoon, with qualifying on Saturday on itv.com.
