Gillingham have a number of injury doubts going into Saturday afternoon’s clash at AFC Wimbledon.

Manager Justin Edinburgh will give the likes of Ryan Jackson, Paul Konchesky, Cody McDonald and Rory Donnelly as long as possible to shake off knocks before deciding who heads to South West London this weekend.

McDonald was an unused substitute at Tuesday night’s 3-3 draw at Chesterfield with the other three all missing from The Gills squad and they will be given as much time as possible to prove their fitness.

In their absence, Gillingham showed great character to come from behind to claim a point at Chesterfield, but a lack of clean sheets and the number of goals being conceded is worrying Justin Edinburgh.

With the squad starting to get down to the bare bones and a number of players still out long term injured, Gillingham have been calling on the likes of Darren Oldaker, Mitchell Dickenson and Elliott List to fill places in the eighteen man squad.

Seventeen year old, second year academy player Ben Chapman was also named in the eighteen man squad on Tuesday night, showing how hard injuries have affected The Gills this early into the season.

The impressive form of Scott Wagstaff, having come back from injury and two penalties from Jay Emmanuel-Thomas will give cause for optimism for a Gillingham side that goes into the game sitting eighth in League One, just two points outside the play-off places.

AFC Wimbledon will prove to be a stern test though for the Kent side and despite sitting 21st in the table, will be a tough challenge on the day with former Gills skipper Barry Fuller and midfielders Andy Barcham and Chris Whelpdale in their squad.
