Ten man Gillingham struck late on to snatch a draw at Plough Lane through Harvey Lintott’s deflected effort.
Steve Evans made four changes as Olly Lee, Rob Mckenzie, Ben Reeves and Danny Lloyd came in to the side.
The home side started brightly, looking threatening through their fast-paced style of football. However they rarely challenged Gills keeper, Jamie Cumming, with the on-loan Chelsea man only being called into action to make a few simple saves.
Gillingham grew into the game as the half went as Dons stopper, Tzanev, saved efforts from Oliver, Reeves and Lee.
Wimbledon continued to put Gills on the back foot after the break as they continued to threaten the Gills goal, forcing Cumming into making more saves.
Harvey Lintott replaced Robbie Mckenzie, as the 18 year-old first year pro made his League debut for the Gills.
David Tutonda was then sent off after receiving his second yellow card of the game for bringing down Lawrence on the edge of the penalty area.
On 86 minutes, Wimbledon took the lead through Ollie Palmer as he rose highest to meet a Luke McCormick cross.
In the 7th minute of added time, and with full time just moments away, teenager Harvey Lintott’s shot took a huge deflection off Paul Kalambayi to send the 900+ Gillingham fans into absolute carnage.
The result sees The Gills sit 18th in League One after three games and they now go into Saturday’s home clash with Morecambe knowing they will be keen to have more players available.
Whether that is through some injured players coming back to feature or new signings being made remains to be seen.
