Addicks to pay respects to legend
Addicks to pay respects to legend

There will be a minute’s applause prior to the kick-off at The Valley on Saturday against Oldham, as a mark of respect to Peter Croker.

Croker was the last surviving member of Charlton’s 1947 FA Cup winning team.

Peter was 89-years-old and passed away recently. The Football Association have agreed to let the FA Cup be at The Valley for the occasion.

Staying on the FA Cup theme, the Addicks had sold over 4,000 tickets for the game at Fulham by close of business on Wednesday. Around 3,000 tickets were sold on Wednesday when the elegibilty criteria was extended.

Phil Brown was dismissed by Preston on Wednesday following a poor run of results. Charlton have North End midfielder, Darel Russell, on loan until January but Brown’s departure is unlikely to affect the midfielder’s situation. Preston are thought to be keen to get Russell’s salary off the the books and would be willing to do business if Chris Powell wants to make the deal permanent.

Another midfielder thought to be on Charlton’s radar is Leyton Orient’s Stephen Dawson, who is interesting a clutch of clubs.

Sources in the East Midlands are suggesting that Jeffrey Schlupp may finally arrive at The Valley on loan in January.
