Addicks to make move in loan market
Addicks to make move in loan market

Piotr Parzyszek has cancelled his loan agreement with Danish side Randers by mutual consent.

The Polish striker’s contract at The Valley was due to run until the summer of 2018, but both parties have agreed to terminate the deal.

Parzyszek becomes the fourth player to have his contract at Charlton annulled this season. Andre Bikey, and more recently, Franck Moussa and Ricardo Vaz Te have agreed similar curtailments.

With Karlan Ahearne-Grant, Joe Pigott and Tony Watt currently out on loan, the Addicks are short of senior strikers.

Simon Makienok, Igor Vetokele, Ademola Lookman and recent arrival, Yaya Sanogo, are the most experienced options currently available to Jose Riga.

Makienok barely played last season, putting him at risk of injury, Vetokele has recently returned from a long spell on the sidelines, so will have to be handled carefully to avoid a recurrence, and Lookman has recently come back following a hamstring problem.

Lookman probably picked up his knock through playing a number of high intensity games in a short period of times, while Sanogo has not scored a league goal since 2013.

February will be a vital month for Charlton, they will want to take advantage of having some winnable games before they embark on a difficult run-in.

In the circumstances, Riga may feel he needs another frontman to bring his squad up to strength.

The head coach may also want to add a creative midfielder to his ranks.

Arsenal’s Serge Gnabry is a name that has been mentioned. Gnabry has recently returned to the Emirates following a loan spell at West Brom.

Reports suggests that Brighton and the Addicks are vying for his signature.

It may be that both the Gunners and the player would prefer him to go to a club in the upper echelons of the Championship.

Riga will be hoping that there are funds available to strengthen his squad, and will be keeping a keen eye on who is available.

Jose Jeunechamps has been confirmed as Riga’s assistant. The pair have previously worked together at Metz, and Jeunechamps was involved in the pre-match warm up at Rotherham on Saturday.
