Ricardo Vaz Te is expected to play some part when the Addicks visit St Andrews to play Birmingham on Saturday.
The former West Ham striker will hope to hit the ground running and has, perhaps surprisingly, been allocated the number two shirt.
The South London Press is reporting that Dagenham winger, Jodi Jones, is set to join Brighton. Jones was a target for Charlton in the summer, but the Addicks could not quite get the deal over the line before the window closed.
Charlton’s interest appears to have cooled, and they have switched their interest to more experienced players.
The Addicks have been pursuing a left-winger since the summer. Frederic Bulot and James Henry were two that they failed to sign, while of recent times, Jobi McAnuff and Yoan Grouffan have been linked.
The one genuine wide left player at the club – Callum Harriott – is on loan at Colchester until January.
Karel Fraeye took advantage of his team’s blank weekend to watch Harriott in action in the U’s 3-1 home defeat by Coventry.
Harriott, like all wingers, is often inconsistent but enjoyed his best spell when Fraeye was Jose Riga’s assistant at the end of the 2013/14 season. Harriott scored twice in the penultimate game of the season, when Riga’s team beat Watford at The Valley to ensure their Championship survival.
Four days later at Bloomfield Road, Harriott went one better and notched a hat-trick, as Charlton finished the season in style by winning at Blackpool.
The winger’s contract expires next summer, but Fraeye may give Harriott the chance to resurrect his Valley career in the New Year.
Another young winger attracting interest is Ebbsfleet’s Shilow Tracey. Ipswich, Reading and a number of Premier League clubs, as well as the Addicks, are considering making an offer for the talented youngster.
