The Nottingham Evening Post has reported that Notts County have rejected a bid from Charlton for their star midfielder, Alan Judge.
The diminutive Dubliner was outstanding in County’s 4-2 win at The Valley in March, scoring a goal in a match that saw Jonathan Forte grab a hat-trick.
Judge has not been affected by the speculation, he netted a late equaliser for the ten man Magpies at Meadow Lane on Saturday. The 24-year-old’s header earnt his team a point against Sheffield United.
Not dissimilar in style to former Charlton skipper, Mark Kinsella, Judge is an all action dynamo with plenty of skill.
Here’s what County manager, Keith Curle had to say:
“There is no way I’d let Alan Judge leave this club for somebody else’s players that aren’t good enough for them.
“He (Green) was a name that got thrown at me with the potential of Bradley Wright-Phillips as well because they’re not playing there.
“They wanted to take one of our players and offered us two of theirs, so it was a two-for-one deal.”
Curle seems adamant that he is not interested in the deal but interestingly, he has not denied that Judge could move on. Like another reported Addicks target, Anthony Wordsworth, Judge’s contract runs out in the summer, so the Magpies need to cash in now or risk losing the player for nothing at the end of the season.
If Curle is determined to hold on to his star player, why reveal details of the offer publicly? The story may well have some legs in it.
