Charlton Athletic picked up the Kent Senior Cup with an emphatic 7-1 win against Tonbridge Angels at Longmead Stadium on Wednesday evening.Kent Senior Cup

Michael Smith bagged four goals and there were also goals for Jordan Cook, Kevin Feely plus an own goal.

The Addicks had to adjust to the bobbly, dusty pitch but once they did, their pace and movement caused Tonbridge Angels untold problems.

A clever free-kick routine saw Jordan Cook open the scoring after 13 minutes. Cook dummied, Morgan Fox dummied then played the ball to Cook who pulled it back across the area. Tonbridge failed to clear the ball and Cook scrambled it home.

A minute later, Michael Smith doubled the advantage, slipping the ball past Lee Worgan.

Just before the half-hour mark, Kevin Feely nodded home Morgan Fox’s right-wing corner.

Three minutes after the break the Angels fans had something to cheer when Ollie Bankole pulled a goal back. Their joy was short lived however, Michael Smith added a fourth after 54 minutes.

Joe Piggot had a shot hooked off the line but the Angels never really got the ball clear. It was played back in from the left for Smith to complete his hat-trick.

Ade Azeez replaced Piggot after 63 minutes and had the ball in the net five minutes later, only to be ruled offside.

On 73 minutes Smith pounced on an error by Worgan but his shot was cleared off the line. Smith would not be denied though, he rounded the keeper a minute later to complete his hat-trick.

Smith’s one man demolition job was far from over though. He pulled the ball back after 79 minutes and the defender could only put the ball in his own net.

Two minutes from time, Smith rounded the keeper to notch his fourth.

The referee blew for full-time without adding any time on, a gesture no doubt much appreciated by the home side.

A thoroughly entertaining evening’s entertainment was witnessed by first team coach, Damien Matthew. There will be one or two names brought to the attention of Chris Powell.
