The Addicks progressed to the last eight of the Premier League Cup at The Valley on Wednesday afternoon, when they came from behind to beat Brentford 2-1.
Igor Vetokele and Cristian Ceballos played 45 minutes each. The Angolan striker looked some way short of his best, and had to ride a strong challenge from Bees skipper, James Ferry, five minutes before the interval.
Jan Holldack was brought down by Dimitar Mitov just before the hour mark, but got up to give the visitors lead from the penalty spot.
Goals from Mikhail Kennedy and a 25-yard effort from Ceballos saw Charlton safely through.
Charlton: Mitov; Charles-Cook (Barnes 62), Konsa, Thomas, Holmes-Dennis; Muldoon, Kelly, Aribo, Kennedy; Vetokele (Ceballos 46), Ansah (Umerah 59).
Subs (not used): Beeney, Staunton, Barnes.
Goals: Kennedy 68, Ceballos 79.
Brentford: Smith; Laucys (Mepham 85), Field, Ferry, Barbet; O’Shaughnessy, Senior (Alves 26), Cole, Clayton (Marsh-Brown 80); Holldack, Macleod.

Goal: Holldack 59.
The strongest rumours on Wednesday linked former Addick, Dorian Dervite and ex-West Ham midfielder, Kevin Nolan, with moves to The Valley.
Both seem unlikely. Dervite received a big increase in pay when he joined Bolton in the summer of 2014. In any event, Charlton already have Patrick Bauer, Alou Diarra, Naby Sarr, Harry Lennon, Rhys Williams and Roger Johnson to fill the central defensive berths.
Nolan’s wage expectations may make him beyond the reach of the Addicks financially.
The striker merry-go-round that could see Yann Kermorgant return to The Valley cranked into life on Wednesday.
Cardiff striker, Kenwyne Jones, joined UAE outfit, Al Jazira. The move will free up funds to allow the Bluebirds to sign Tony Watt from Charlton on a permanent basis.
Eddie Howe has said that Kermorgant would not be allowed to leave Bournemouth until the Cherries had brought a new striker in.
Howe is closing in on a deal to bring AC Milan front man, Stephan El Shaarawy, to Dean Court. The move seems likely to trigger Kermorgant’s release.
The French striker is attracting interest from Bristol City, Derby and Middlesbrough, as well as the Addicks.
Reports on Wednesday suggest that both Crystal Palace and Tottenham have joined the race to sign Charlton starlet, Ademola Lookman.
Lookman is currently sidelined for three weeks with a hamstring problem, but is believed to be keen to remain at The Valley to get more game time.
Tottenham are thought to be willing to loan the youngster straight back to the Addicks.
