Addicks progress in FA Youth Cup

Charlton progressed to the Fourth Round of the FA Youth Cup with a 3-1 win over Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Tuesday evening.

Luke Carey gave the young Addicks the lead midway through the first half when he turned in Alfie Doughty’s pass from close range.

Leandro Ribeiro levelled for Rangers five minutes later‎, but Charlton regained the lead twenty minutes from time.

Kayden Williams-Lowe handled the ball on the edge of the box, and Albie Morgan despatched the penalty.

But the major talking point came deep into stoppage time. The ball came to Doughty who was fully 75 yards from Rangers’ goal.

Spotting Myles Bowman off his line, he hit the ball first time. It sailed over the keeper’s head and nestled in the back of the net.

It was an amazing‎ strike and will long live in the memory of those fortunate enough to witness it.

The Addicks will be at home to either Reading or Millwall in the next round.
