Charlton completed the loan signing of 18-year-old Anil Koc on Monday.
The winger has featured five times for Standard Liege’s first team and has represented both Turkey and Belgium at Youth levels.
He will be with the club until the end of June and joins Liege teammates, Astrit Ajdarevic and Yohann Thuram-Ulien, at The Valley. Koc is likely to feature in the Addicks Under-21 team more than the senior side.
Clubs are limited to four loanees from the same club under current regulations and emergency loans are only permitted from a team’s domestic league system.
It is probable that Roland Duchatelet will take the opportunity to send Charlton a fourth loanee from Liege, with Dutch-Iranian striker, Reza Ghoochannejhad, the most likely.
Commonly known as ‘Gucci’, Ghoochannejhad was recruited from Sint-Truiden, another club with Duchatelet conections. The 26-year-old is a goal scorer and – like Ajdarevic and Thuram-Ulien – will be in contention for a first team berth.
Sky have reported that Bournemouth have made an undisclosed bid for Charlton striker, Yann Kermorgant. Kermorgant is said to be unwilling to commit his future to the Addicks until Chris Powell is assured of a new contract.
Celtic manager, Neil Lennon, was at the Kassam last Tuesday to watch Kermorgant and Michael Morrison in action. Kermorgant is thought to have shunned a move to the Scottish giants in the summer.
He has recently bought a property in Greenwich, so a move to Bournemouth may be more appealing to him and his family. Though officially rested at Huddersfield on Saturday, there was speculation that the talismanic French striker may have played his last game for the Addicks.
Kermorgant was in attendance at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday and is with the squad at their Thorpe Park Hotel base, near Leeds.
Were Kermorgant not to start at the Keepmoat on Tuesday, it would send out a clear message that he is on his way. The 32-year-old’s contract expires at the end of June, so he will want to sort his future out as quickly as possible.
Rhoys Wiggins will sit out the final match of his suspension at Doncaster and Chris Powell will be hoping that Cedric Evina recovers from the dead leg that he sustained at Huddersfield on Saturday.
Evina took a knock in the opening minutes but had to be replaced by Harry Lennon after 35 minutes. Lennon is a left-footed centre-back by trade and Powell would be reluctant to risk him in a game as important as the one at the Keepmoat.
Regular Under-21 left-back, Morgan Fox, joined the squad at Thorpe Park on Monday as a precautionary measure. Fox has just returned from a loan spell with League One outfit, Notts County, where he made seven league appearances and acquitted himself well.
If Evina fails to make it, Fox is likely to start the game against Doncaster.
Though Wiggins will be available for the match at Wigan on Saturday, he is another who is out of contract in the summer and thought to be attracting interest from other League One teams. Powell will be anxious to get past the transfer window deadline with the Welsh international still in his ranks.
Chris Solly’s continuing knee problems have seen Lawrie Wilson drop back into defence with no other senior option available.
Hungarian side, Ujpest Dosza, are reporting on their website that the club’s 23-year-old French right-back, Loic Nego, has joined Charlton. Ujpest are another outfit in the Duchatelet stable, with Roland’s son Roderick being the club chairman.
There are stories linking the Addicks with English based strikers, Millwall’s Jermaine Easter and Leicester’s Chris Wood, amongst them.
Wood is also reportedly on Bournemouth’s radar. The New Zealand international has been injured of recent times but has also fallen down the pecking order at Leicester.
David Nugent and Jamie Vardy are Nigel Pearson’s favoured front pairing and the Foxes recently recruited the evergreen Kevin Phillips. Pearson also has Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Martyn Waghorn to call on so Wood could be surplus to requirements.
Wood had a prolific loan spell at Millwall last season, when he was still on West Brom’s books. His form at the Den persuaded Pearson to part with a seven figure fee to secure Wood’s services last January.
Since then the duo have, allegedly, fallen out over a personal issue and it could be that both parties would welcome Wood’s departure from the King Power Stadium.
Personnel at The Valley may look considerably different by the time Charlton pitch up at Wigan on Saturday.
