Katrien Meire issued a statement on Monday, regarding a behind-the-scenes restructure, which is aimed at helping the club meet the Financial Fair Play regulations.
There will be a number of redundancies but, thus far, only veteran Valley stalwart, Paul Ellis, has been named.
Meire will become Chief Executive Officer with responsibility for implementing the new structure.
Steve Bradshaw’s future at The Valley has looked in jeopardy for some time. Bradshaw has the title of Chief Operating Officer and it seems implausible that the new set up would have both a CEO and a COO. Time will tell whether Bradshaw is confirmed as one of those who will be leaving. Here is Meire’s statement:
“Redundancies are always a difficult process for everyone involved.
“We have been reviewing a number of areas over recent months and, while not a reflection on the abilities or attitudes of those who will be leaving us, unfortunately we felt we had no choice but to implement the changes we have.
“I would like to place on record the club’s thanks to everyone concerned, some of whom have given Charlton many years of fantastic service, and we wish them all well in the future.”
Following the game at Park View Road against Welling on Saturday 12 July, Charlton will head off to southern Spain for a training camp.
The Addicks will face Portuguese second tier outfit, Atletico Clube de Portugal, on Wednesday16 July, and the Under-23 team of La Liga side, Malaga, on Saturday 19 July.
The games will be played at the Cala Resort in Mijas and will kick-off in the evening, when the temperatures will be lower.
The Cala Resort is a fairly remote location, being around ten miles from the nearest rail station, which is Fuengirola. The terminus is at the end of the Malaga commuter line.
Charlton are thought to be closing in on a number of targets. Bob Peeters would like to have a few more faces at the club before his team take part in the Stayen Cup at the weekend.
