Addicks make move for keeper
Addicks make move for keeper

Former Manchester United keeper, Ben Amos, became available last Tuesday and Karl Robinson moved quickly to get his man.

Amos joined Bolton from Manchester United in 2015, but has slipped down the pecking order at the Macron.

The 25-year-old Macclesfield born shot stopper spent last season on loan at Championship side, Cardiff. His high salary is burden that the financially stricken Trotters need to move off their books.

Charlton are only paying a small portion of Amos’ wages for his season long loan, but Bolton need all the help they can get.

Amos – who has played in the Champions League for United – is looking forward to the season ahead as he explained to the club’s web site:

‎”I’m always looking to gain more and more experience. I know the set-up at Charlton is a strong one for me to develop and for the club to develop.

“Hopefully there is a bright future ahead for Charlton and that is why I have come here; to try and be part of that.
“It seems like there is a good group of lads, a good manager and I’m really excited and am happy to get going.”

Amos was pitched straight into the side that beat Ipswich 6-1 on Saturday after completing his move.

With Dillon Phillips injured, Amos was pressed into instant action:

“It’s been a bit of a crazy few days, I was comfortable with being thrown straight in on Saturday.

“Initially, I didn’t know whether I was going to be playing at all and then I thought I’d maybe play 45 minutes but ended up doing the 90, which was good to get in before the start of the season.

“The lads looked great in the game; looked fit and sharp and hopefully we can continue that in our first match of the season on Saturday.”

Phillips is keen to play on a regular basis, and the Addicks are looking for a season long for the talented young custodian.

At the same time, the Addicks are looking to bring in an understudy for Amos, so it will be all change for goalkeeping coach, Lee Turner. ‎
