Charlton swooped for former Barcelona and Spurs midfielder-cum-striker, Cristian Ceballos on Thursday.

Rumours about Ceballos surfaced at the weekend and initial talks with the player took place earlier in the week.

Ceballos is a 22-year-old former Barcelona junior, and joined Spurs four years ago. He had a loan spell with Portuguese side, FC Arouca, during the 2013/14 season.

The young Spaniard will be a real threat at Championship level and has signed a three-year contract. Guy Luzon was thrilled to get his man:

“Cristian is a very technical player, who has a lot of quality and skill, and I hope that he will be able to show that to the Charlton fans this coming season.

“He had a strong football upbringing at Barcelona and after joining Tottenham he kept a strong goal scoring record within their development team,” said the head coach.

Shortly after Ceballos’ signing was announced, the club revealed that versatile left-sided performer, Zakarya Bergdich, had penned a four-year deal subject to passing a medical.

The 26-year-old Moroccan is equally at home at left-back or as a left-sided midfielder. Bergdich has pace to burn and, like Ceballos, is a real crowd pleaser.

He joined the Addicks from Spanish side, Real Valladolid, but played in Italy’s Serie ‘A’ last season, when he was on loan at Genoa.

Luzon said this about Bergdich:

“We identified Zakarya as a player who possesses a lot of pace on the left side of the pitch, and I’m very pleased that we are able to confirm him as a Charlton player.

“He is an exciting footballer who will excite the Charlton fans and while with Genoa last year, he played against some of the hardest opponents in European football,” said Luzon.

There could be another signing or two for Charlton fans to look forward to in the next few days.

Closer to home, the club are confident that Jordan Cousins will agree terms on a new four-year contract.
