“We’re hoping to add one before Tuesday, I can’t reveal who, it’s quite delicate, so I don’t want to say too much about it, but we hope to do a little bit of business before Tuesday.
“We’re a long way down the line, and I’m confident that we can do that,” is what Russell Slade said at the end of Saturday’s disappointing defeat at Bury.
The Addicks are still looking for a number of new faces, but Slade seems to want to bring in the player he is referring to as a matter of urgency.
In order for him to play at Cheltenham on Tuesday evening, he will need to sign by midday on Monday.
Fans will be checking media outlets regularly on Monday morning for details, but the manager seems certain it will happen.
Slade will have a number of decisions to make ahead of the game at Whaddon Road.
He had his squad in on Sunday and has said there will be a number of changes on Tuesday.
The Addicks’ bench at Bury comprised seven academy graduates for the first time and a number of them, such as Dillon Phillips, Ollie Muldoon and Ademola Lookman – plus the new arrival if the deal goes though in time – look sure to start.
Slade will then look to ensure his team’s league campaign gets up and running against Northampton at The Valley on Saturday.
