The summer transfer window closed in England at 6.00pm on Tuesday, and will reopen again in January.
For Football League clubs though, the story is far from over.
Unattached players, such as Jermaine Pennant, can sign outside of the window, so the Addicks could offer him a deal today if they wanted to.
This will will be the last season that the emergency loan window will operate in the Football League. This window will open next Wednesday, 9 September, and will remain open until Thursday 27 November.
It will open again on 9 February, before closing for the last time on 24 March.
Clubs can bring players in during this window for a maximum of 93 days. So if a club wants to keep a player for the rest of the season, they would have to wait until the end of the month before recruiting.
The emergency loan would then end in the first few days of January, when a standard loan contract, until the end of the season, could be signed.
With the Premier League clubs having to submit their 25 man squad lists on Wednesday 2 September, any players not named could be made available for a loan spell with a Football League side.
Any deals between fellow Football League clubs that could not be completed on Monday, could also be resurrected under the emergency loan scheme.
It is thought that the Addicks could still be looking to add a player or two to increase Guy Luzon’s options.
