One of the downsides of the Premier League is the erratic scheduling of fixtures.
The big clubs will play more games that do not kick-off at 3.00pm on a Saturday, than games that start at the traditional time.
The Championship is a bit different of course, but clubs who are regularly televised, such as Leeds, have to put up with a fair bit of disruption.
The games in the Championship can come in clusters too, it is not unusual for teams to play two home games, followed by two away fixtures, or vice versa.
If this scenario happens around a televised match, it can cause problems for fans who can only attend Saturday games.
When Charlton face Brentford at The Valley next week, it will be their first Saturday home game since they played Rotherham on 12 September, a gap of six weeks.
Cheltenham’s 2-1 win at Bromley on Tuesday evening, saw Addicks custodian, Dillon Phillips, produce another excellent display.
Phillips’ saves were instrumental in the Robins taking the three points. Bromley levelled from the penalty spot late on, but Cheltenham took the lead again soon after.
Joe Pigott scored the only goal of the game – his fifth in the last four matches – as Southend clinched victory over Port Vale at Roots Hall on Saturday.
A more unlikely scorer at the weekend was central defender, Harry Lennon. Lennon netted his first ever league goal, as Gillingham sealed 3-1 win at Chesterfield.
Callum Harriott has been in fine form at Colchester, so the loan moves have proved beneficial for all these players.
