It’s being reported that Charlton are interested in strikers Alex Revell and Lee Novak.
Revell may join Chris Wilder at Sheffield United, but 27-year-old Novak is an interesting option.
He started his professional career at Scottish club, Gretna, before drifting into the non-league scene with home town club, Newcastle Blue Star. He moved on to Gateshead, before joining Huddersfield for £150,000 in the summer of 2009.
He was part of Lee Clark’s side that went on a year long unbeaten run, and was used as a foil for the emerging Jordan Rhodes.
Novak netted 34 goals in his 89 starts and 55 substitute appearances for the Terriers.
Clark’s 43 match unbeaten run, ended with a 2-0 reverse against Charlton at The Valley at the end of November 2011. Less than three months later, Huddersfield sacked Clark.
He was appointed Birmingham manager in the summer of 2012, and one of his first signings was Novak.
Clark used Novak as a left-winger, as well as in his preferred central striking role, during his time at St Andrews. He played in 59 Championship games for the Blues – 42 starts and a further 17 appearances as a substitute – scoring just 9 goals.
Gary Rowett allowed Novak to join Chesterfield on loan for the 2015/16 season. He scored 15 goals from 32 starts and 3 substitute appearances.
Novak has a great work ethic, and links up well with his fellow striker. He is a very capable player at League One level.
Sky Sports News reported on Monday that both Barnsley and Peterborough had agreed a £500,000 fee with Colchester for midfielder, George Moncur. The duo have also reportedly agreed add-ons that could see the fee rise to £750,000.
