The South London Press is reporting that Burton’s former Tottenham winger, Jacques Maghoma, is on Charlton’s summer shopping list.

The 25-year-old Congolese international was in the League Two team of the season and scored in the second leg of the Play-Off semi-final against Phil Parkinson’s Bradford City.

Maghoma had his best ever season this campaign, contributing 18 goals and 13 assists in his 50 appearances. In his four seasons at Burton, he made 138 starts plus a further 17 appearances as a sub, scoring 26 goals.

The Brewers manager, former Addick, Gary Rowett, has said that the club will not be talking to Maghoma about a new contract as the player has made it clear he wishes to play at a higher level.

Charlton have made a bid to sign Jonathan Obika, who spent the last weeks of the season on loan at The Valley. Obika was impressive during his stay and it is no surprise that Powell has tried to secure his services on a permanent basis.

Another striker being linked with a possible move to The Valley is former Arsenal youngster, Jay Simpson, who has been released by Hull. The 24-year-old, Enfield born Simpson has previously spent time on loan with Millwall.

Sky Bet have cut the odds on Chris Powell becoming the next Wigan manager from 40/1 to 9/2. It would be a major surprise if Powell left The Valley for the DW Stadium but Sky Bet must have some reason for slashing the odds so dramatically.
