Nick Pope has flown back to England, after the Addicks accepted a bid – believed to be in the region of £1,000,000 – from Burnley.
Stephen Henderson is reported to be attracting interest from Nottingham Forest. Though there is some way to go before the deal is complete, a move to the City Ground would probably appeal to the Irish stopper.
Brought to The Valley on the recommendation of former goalkeeping coach, Ben Roberts. Henderson does not appear to have the same rapport with current coach, Lee Turner.
Charlton would probably be happy to get Henderson’s salary off the books, so a deal with Forest would suit all parties.
Russell Slade has summoned Dillon Phillips to Austria, and the young keeper will play some part against Maccabi Petah Tikva on Tuesday.
Phillips was in superb form for National League Champions, Cheltenham, last season before injury brought a premature end to his campaign.
Johann Berg Gudmundsson is due back from his holiday in Miami over the weekend and will complete his move to Turf Moor early next week.
It is even possible that the Clarets could unveil Gudmundsson and Pope at the same time.
If both Henderson and Pope leave, Slade will bring a new keeper in. But if either of the duo stay, they will be the Addicks’ number one.
Charlton continued their pre-seaon schedule with a game against top-flight Russian side, Anzhi Makhachkala, on Saturday.
The Russians are two weeks further ahead in their preparations than the South Londoners, and they were the sharper outfit.
The Addicks battled hard and were unfortunate to go down to a 1-0 defeat. The goal came from a free-kick in stoppage time. Dimitar Mitov may feel he should have done better with Tigiev’s effort.
