Charlton announced that Joe Aribo had penned a new deal on Friday. The Camberwell born 20-year-old has featured in the first team squad recently.
Aribo joined the club from Staines Town in the summer of 2015, and has made steady progress during his time at The Valley.
The midfielder’s deal runs until the end of the 2018/2019 season.
The Coventry Telegraph has reported that new Sky Blues manager, Russell Slade, wants to take Addicks striker, Nicky Ajose, to the Ricoh.
The paper is denied access to Coventry personnel after they backed the campaign for owners SISU to sell, so there are no direct quotes from Slade.
The story seems fanciful. Ajose was a big money signing in the summer, and Coventry are unlikely to be able to meet the fee Charlton would demand, even if the player was available.
Stories have emerged on Twitter linking the Addicks with a loan move for Derby striker, Andreas Weimann.
Weimann cost the Rams £2,500,000 when he arrived from Aston Villa in the summer of 2015, but he has largely been a peripheral figure at Pride Park.
The Austrian has scored just 4 goals for Derby in his 16 starts and 28 substitute appearances in all competitions.
He had a better record at Villa Park where he scored 24 goals in 129 appearances, 38 of them as a substitute.
Weimann also scored 4 goals in a loan spell at Watford.
With Lee Novak out until the end of January, Ajose and Josh Magennis are the only fit senior strikers at The Valley.
Coupled with Weimann not appearing to figure in Steve McClaren’s plans, the story could have legs.
