Addicks & Gills set for Capital One Cup draw

The draw for the first round of the Capital One Cup will be made at 9.30 on Thursday with Charlton and Gillingham set to find out their opponents.

The League Cup’s new sponsors will see their competition unveiled during the week leading up to the start of the new league season on 18 August.

Charlton have regained their status as one of the seeds in the southern section of the first round draw. The Addicks are likely to face a team from the following group:

AFC Wimbledon, Aldershot Town, Barnet, Bristol Rovers, Crawley Town, Dagenham & Redbridge, Exeter City, Gillingham, Leyton Orient, Oxford United, Northampton Town, Shrewsbury Town, Swindon Town, Wycombe Wanderers and Yeovil Town.

There is the added problem caused by the policing of the Olympics which would probably mean the club would have to postpone the game if they receive a home draw.

The fixtures for the 2012/13 Football League season will be released on Monday at 9.00am. Again, there could be difficulties playing early home fixtures due to the Paralympics being staged during the opening period of the new season.

Northern sources are suggesting Chris Powell is interested in signing Middlesbrough’s out-of-contract right-back, Justin Hoyte.

27-year-old Hoyte can also play on the left and joned Boro from Arsenal in 2008 for £3m. Tony Mowbray is keen to keep the player at the Riverside but Hoyte would have to take a dramatic cut in wages. He may prefer to return to his native London but his salary demands could be a sticking point for the Addicks.
