There will be a pitch inspection at The Valley at 11.00am on Friday to decide whether the FA Cup game against Oxford can go ahead.
With the Valley pitch already in poor condition, and further heavy rain predicted, it seems little more than a formality that the game will be called off.
An early decision will enable the club to cancel the programme run and catering supplies, thus avoiding unnecessary costs. The game would almost certainly be rescheduled for Tuesday 14 January, with a 7.45pm kick-off.
Ticket’s for the trip to Wigan on 1 February are due to go on sale next Tuesday. The prices will be:
£15 adults
£10 over 65s
£5 for under 16s.
Confirmation regarding a takeover of the club is still awaited, although there could be a clue in the latest batch of transfer rumours.
Crystal Palace playmaker, Elliot Grandin, is thought to be considering leaving Selhurst Park, with the Addicks and Sheffield Wednesdaymonitoring the situation. Grandin joined the Eagles in the summer and has played for the French Under-21 national side.
Standard Liege owner, Roland Duchatalet is thought to be in pole position to buy Charlton. Standard’s left sided midfielder, Astrit Ajdarevic, is another player rumoured to be on Chris Powell’s wanted list.
Powell is familiar with Ajdarevic as the player spent time at Leicester when Powell coached their reserve team. The player was originally loaned to Leicester while on Liverpool’s books. He also had a short spell on loan at Hereford.
