Charlton Athletic will soon know who they will be facing next season with just one position in the Championship still to be decided.
The drama at the Ethiad on Sunday was being closely followed by Bolton fans at Stoke’s Britannia Stadium.
Bolton needed to win and hope Manchester City also won, to stay up. Bolton were on the wrong end of some poor decisions which contributed to a 2-2 scoreline.
From a Charlton perspective, the outcome will probably be welcomed. Bolton have big debts, as well as many players coming to the end of their contracts.
Queens Park Rangers have money behind them and would probably have mounted a more serious promotion bid than the Trotters will.
Wolves and particularly Blackburn are in disarray so Charlton’s heirarchy may feel that the club has a good opportunity to achieve back-to-back promotions.
