Leicester City are getting plenty of television coverage of recent times and it could have an impact on the Addicks.
Heavy snow in the East Midlands restricted attendance at the King Power Stadium to just over 8,000, when Sky televised the match against Middlesbrough on Friday 11 January. The Sky cameras return to the King Power on Thursday, when the Foxes face Wolves.
ESPN cameras will be in Leicester on Tuesday 12 February to televise the FA Cup fourth round replay with Huddersfield. The winners will be at home to Wigan in the fifth round and the game will be transmitted live by ITV on Sunday 17 February with a 3.55pm kick-off. If Leicester are involved, their Championship match with Charlton, scheduled for Tuesday 19 February, is almost certain to be put back 24 hours and will be played on Wednesday 20 February with a 7.45pm kick-off.
Staying with the Leicester theme, Chris Powell would like to take striker, Jeff Schlupp, on loan. Powell knows Schlupp from his time at Leicester and had this to say about him:
“I hope it goes well for him (Schlupp – currently on trial at Manchester United)) but if it doesn’t there is another team in red that he can always wear the shirt of.
“We will just have to wait and see on that one. I have kept a close eye on Jeff. He played when I took the development team (at Leicester). He played a number of times and you could see him as a player there.”
There are rumours linking Bradley Wright-Phillips with a loan move to Swindon, with Tranmere and Sheffield United also thought to be in the hunt. If Schlupp does become available, any deal would probably hinge on the Addicks being able to move Wright-Phillips on.
The Kent Senior Cup match with Herne Bay was postponed on Wednesday evening due to a waterlogged pitch.
