The summer transfer window closes at 5.00pm on Thursday, though EFL clubs will have until 31 August to complete loan deals.
August will be a worrying time for Premier League clubs. The window in Europe is open until the end of the month, leaving them vulnerable to losing their star players, but they will be unable to replace them.
There have been rumours linking Joe Aribo with Southampton, and Patrick Bauer with Blackburn, but neither player is likely to depart.
After the Sunderland defeat, Lee Bowyer intimated there would be three arrivals, but these look likely to be loans.
The strongest rumour is linking Aston Villa keeper, Matiga Sarkic, with a move to The Valley.
Sarkic is 23-years-old and has represented Montenegro at Under-21 level. He joined Villa from Anderlecht in the summer of 2015, but has yet to make any sort of first team appearance for the Midlands side.
He spent last season on loan at Wigan, and played in two FA Cup ties and a Checkatrade Trophy game for the Latics.
The Addicks have also been linked with Leeds’ Irish international midfielder, Eunan O’Kane. The diminutive 28-year-old joined Leeds from Bounemouth two years ago, but is not a fans favourite.
O’Kane would slot into Jake Forster-Caskey’s role, but it seems unlikely that he would be prepared to drop into League One.
There are also rumours suggesting Wolves central defender, Ethan Ebanks-Landell, could make a temporary switch to south London.
The 25-year-old was on loan at MK Dons last season, and has also had loan spells at Bury and Sheffield United.
Again, the move looks unlikely to happen.
Bowyer has yet to make a decision about trialists Simon Dawkins and Elliott Ward. The indications are that neither player will be offered a deal.
Rohan Ince is injured and has already been released.
Young striker, Josh Umerah, has joined National League side Borehamwood on a season long loan.
Bowyer will hold his weekly press conference with local journalists on Thursday morning. He is likely to give updates on transfers and the injured players.
Fans will be particularly anxious to hear about how Jason Pearce is progressing.
