Strong and persistent rumours emerged from the North East on Monday, suggesting Middlesbrough had finally agreed a deal to take Anfernee Dijksteel to the Riverside. The fee is thought to be in the region of £2million.
Boro have pursued Dijksteel all summer and have had two previous bids rejected. Bristol City also had an offer knocked back.
Dijksteel is 22-years-old and joined the Addicks from the Nike Academy in 2016.
Though he prefers to play as a defensive midfielder, he made his breakthrough at The Valley as a right-back.
Young, strong, athletic and with the ability to run forever, Dijksteel is the epitomy of the modern day full-back.
He finished his Charlton career with a good, solid performance at Ewood Park on Saturday.
In total, Dijksteel made 48 starts for the Addicks in all competitions, plus a further 11 appearances from the subs’ bench. He scored his only goal in the 4-0 win over Scunthorpe at The Valley in April.
