Today is the last day that Charlton will be accepting bookings for tickets and free coach travel from supporters going to Halifax.
That’s for fans who want the tickets to be posted to them. So far, there have been bookings to fill nearly three coaches.
The last time the Addicks were involved in a televised First Round tie was two years ago at Northwich. On that occasion, 272 fans made the trek north for the Sunday lunchtime game and it is unlikely that many more will travel this time.
Nearly a hundred coach places were taken up ahead of the Preston game, when restrictions were in place, so around another fifty have been booked since the restrictions have been lifted.
It is difficult of course, not everyone enjoys long coach journeys, it is impossible to get to Halifax from London in time for kick-off on Sunday and it will be an early start for car travellers. Also, being able to watch the match live on ITV is a deterrent.
This will be the most high profile game that Halifax have been involved in since they were reformed in 2008. The Shaymen are making a real effort, there will be 24 mascots accompanying the teams onto the pitch, the club are urging as many locals as possible to turn up and will be doing something to mark Remembrance Day.
Halifax expect a crowd of 4-5000 and there will be a cracking atmosphere. The Shay is close to the town centre and its amenities so there will be plenty of choice for those wanting to eat or drink before or after the game.
The match is a great example of what the magic of the FA Cup is all about, and yes, the cameras will there hoping for a giant killing.
It should be a great occasion, so if you can be a part of it, please do what you can to be there. Chris Powell may put a stronger team out than many think, but more of that tomorrow.
