Amidst continuing speculation about the club’s financial situation, the Addicks could announce their first signing of the summer on Monday.
Stevenage’s former Charlton trainee, Lawrie Wilson, underwent a medical on Sunday according to the South London Press.
Wilson can play right-back as well as on the right of midfield and impressed against the Addicks last season.
The 24-year-old has made 230 appearances in all competitions during spells at Sheffield Wednesday, Burton Albion, Kidderminster Harriers, Colchester and latterly Stevenage, scoring 15 goals. Peterborough have also been chasing the Londoner but he was thought to have always preferred a move back to The Valley.
Charlton have lacked specialist cover for Player of the Year, Chris Solly, and Wilson’s versatility will be a useful asset.
