Burton’s former Tottenham winger, Jacques Maghoma, has signed for Sheffield Wednesday.
Maghoma was thought to be interesting Charlton but it seemed Middlesbrough were favourites for his signature.
Former Addick, Miguel Llera, has signed a one year extension to his deal at Hillsborough.
Things are still quiet on the recruitment front at The Valley but most attention is on the strikers. Ricardo Fuller and Danny Haynes have been released, while Bradley Wright-Phillips is on trial with New York Red Bulls. The club’s other senior striker, Yann Kermorgant, is reportedly on Fulham’s radar.
There are several rumours concerning possible replacements. Jonathan Obika is a player Chris Powell would like to sign on a permanent basis, Marvin Sordell, Sam Baldock and Simeon Jackson are also thought to be possible targets. All of these players would be expensive in terms of wages and with the exception of Jackson, they would all command a fee as well.
Another rumour doing the rounds concerns a season long loan for Manchester United’s Federico Macheda. Again, even if United paid the majority of Macheda’s salary, he would be an expensive option.
Any move for Sordell would almost certainly be dependent on Dale Stephens going in the other direction to make it financially viable. Bolton born Stephens may find a move to his home town club appealing.
