Morgan Fox was a victim of the bug sweeping through Sparrows Lane and missed Saturday’s trip to Bradford. Previously, Fox had been an ever present.
Chris Solly’s knee has ruled him out recently, and Kevin Foley missed last week’s game with MK Dons with a groin problem. But was fit enough to return to the bench on Saturday.
Konsa and Adam Chicksen were paired for the first time at Bradford and had differing fortunes.
Konsa is only 18-years-old and looks destined to join a Premier League club in the not-too-distant future. But he is a central defender, and though he can fill in on the right, he is far more comfortable in the middle.
Karl Robinson’s more expansive game does give the opposition more room to operate in, and Konsa was exposed on occasions at Bradford.
In contrast, Chicksen is a genuine full-back and had a fine game against the Bantams. Still only 25-years-old, Chicksen enjoyed his best form under Robinson at MK Dons.
He has had to wait patiently for a league game at The Valley, but grabbed his chance with both hands on Saturday.
Arguably Man Of The Match, Chicksen delivered some dangerous crosses, as well as being solid defensively.
With his old boss now in charge at The Valley, Chicksen may put real pressure on Fox for the left-back berth.
