The Invicta Dynamos had a bad day at the office on Saturday as they lost 7-4 to the Bracknell Hornets in the NIHL South.140920_21

Kevin Parrish’s side were hoping for a repeat performance from the game that saw the two teams go head to head last Sunday with the Dynamos winning that one 7-5, but it wasn’t to be.

Going into the game the Dynamos were without Grant Baxter who was unavailable and Greg Chambers who had been released in the week.

With no new faces in which to call from, the Dynamos took to the ice with just fifteen players with the home side having five more in which to call from.

The game was in the fifth minute when the home side took the lead, Daniel Hughes rounding off a great move started by Jake Pitchley as the Dynamos defence left the Bracknell man to score.

Less than two minutes later and the Dynamos were level though when Juraj Huska fired in from the blue line.

That should have served to inspire the visitors and the warning signals were there as Mos netminder Chris Douglas was peppered, but the two teams went in at the first break level.

Three minutes into the second period and Bracknell were back in front as a scramble in front of the goal saw Joshua Smith slam the puck home.

The Dynamos came back fighting and should have pulled themselves level once again with Mark Duffy preventing both Callum Fowler and Billy Phillips.

Not scoring then gave the Hornets the desire to go on and score themselves in the 27th minute as Pitchley and Highes combining and the former tucking the puck past Douglas.

Tempers flared as Pitchley challenged Douglas with Billy Phillips offering to drop the gloves, but the Bracknell man wasn’t interested.

Two further goals from Bracknell in the 32nd and 35th minutes saw them go 5-1 in front with Hughes making it four after a shocking pass from Billy Phillips let the Hornets man in and despite being short handed Daniel Rose made it five as the Dynamos once again left Douglas exposed.

There was a brief respite for the Dynamos in the 37th minute as Steve Osman rounded off a great move involving Elliott Dewey and Juska.

However, Bracknell made it 6-2 less than a minute later as another 2 on 1 saw Smith set Hughes up to score.

Fired up going into the final period the Dynamos made it 6-3 just 74 seconds in with Anthony Leone making sure the puck was in the net after Osman had thought he had scored.

With tensions mounting, the game erupted in the 49th minute with Billy Phillips and Luke Reynolds going toe to toe and minutes later brother Charlie reacted to a Smith hit on Callum Fowler and that brought about the end of his game.

A sense of injustice fired the Dynamos on as they brought it back to 6-4 in the 53rd minute with Huska scoring another, but it proved to be fruitless.

Kevin Parrish called a time out in the 57th minute and pulled netminder Chris Douglas with little under 90 seconds left on the clock, but it only served to gift Bracknell a goal as Peter Jasik broke free and fired into an empty net.

The 7-4 loss sees the Dynamos having lost another two points on the road in the league and they will be desperate to bounce back with a win in the NIHL Southern Cup when London Raiders come to Gillingham on Sunday evening.
