In 2017, one man will run two marathons in two weeks, for two great charities, running in a scooter!
Mike The Mod will be donning his leg-powered Lambretta as the 50-year old fights off his Mod-life crisis.
The running-mad Mod will be running the Brighton Marathon on 9 April 2017 and the London Marathon on 23 April 2017 in his specially-built polystyrene scooter in support of Demelza Hospice Care for Children and Teenage Cancer Trust.
Mike Reeves, who runs with Petts Wood Runners, suffers from Ankylosing Spondylitis, anxiety and depression, says “I wanted to mark my 50th birthday by combining my two passions of running and scooters.”
His own attempt to build a marathon scooter ended in disaster after he plastered his beloved SX200 Lambretta in paper maché.
Members of his scooter club, the Odd Mod Squad, quickly stepped in to design and build him a customised marathon masterpiece.
Carnaby Street’s Ace Face Chris the Mod said “I wouldn’t want to hit the wall in a polystyrene scooter.”
If MiketheMod and his scooter make it through both marathons he will be in two-stroke heaven.
