Twyman has unfinished business

It was recently announced that Ross Twyman would be back in the Dickies British Supersport Championship for 2019.

Twyman will be racing as part of the Gearlink Kawasaki team for the coming season, which gives him every chance to be a front runner once again.

Speaking to Kent Sports News about being back in the Supersport championship, Ross said: “I am very pleased I’ll be back on the Supersport grid for 2019 as I had a good run up to half way last year before I had to stop racing so I feel I have unfinished business in the championship.”

Having only raced for part of the Supersport season we asked Ross how the move to the Gearlink team came about.

He added: “The move to the Gearlink Kawasaki team came about after a former teammate of mine put me in contact with Michael and from there we chatted about the options for 2019 and since then it’s only been positive.”

Looking back on the 2018 season that started so well for Ross ended ultimately in one of disappointment.

“Last season was very frustrating! We had a great start with multiple podiums and then not being able to carry that on for the whole year was a hard pill to swallow but it’s only made me more determined for the 2019 with Gearlink Kawasaki.

“I had a good start to last season with a taste of bubbly straight away and from there on I had a few more podiums which put me third in the championship which I held until I stopped so I know I can go into this year knowing what I am capable of.”

We asked Ross for his highlight of the rather shortened 2018 season and he certainly picked a good highlight.

He said: “A highlight for me has got to be the crazy battle between Brad Jones, James Rispoli and I at Snetterton for second place! I keep that one on record.”

With the 2019 season coming over the horizon really quickly we asked Twyman for his plans for testing and the coming campaign.

He added: “The plans for early 2019 is to get out on the bike for the first time in February and then we have a few more tests planned before the season starts. I’m looking forward to trying the Kawasaki ZXR636.

“My aim for 2019 is to have the same attitude but more determination and aim for the podium consistently every weekend.

“I already know that the Gearlink team will bring me on as a rider and they can provide me with a winning package but I want to aid that by being fit and having a clear mind. I can’t wait to work with them and get the 2019 season under way.”
