Fans will be treated to a spectacular display of tyre burning demonstration at Lydden Hill this weekend as part of their World RX weekend.Drifting 2

While the jaw-dropping cars and famous stars of the FIA World Rallycross Championship top the action-packed bill, they are just one attraction on a busy two-day schedule bursting with highlights.

Dazzling displays, parades and races featuring legendary rallycross cars from past generations – including the much-loved Group B era – have already been confirmed. Further eye-catching additions now include a Spitfire flypast as part of the official opening ceremony, plus dramatic demonstrations from some of the world’s best drifters.

Monster Energy athletes Steve ‘Baggsy’ Biagioni and Luke Woodham will be leading the drift racing ‘Smoke Show’ at the eagerly-anticipated Motorsport News World RX of Great Britain.

Baggsy is a former British champion currently competing in the European Championship, and he’s excited to be going door-to-door with Woodham.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun, and I’m looking forward to putting on a show for the crowds, at what will be one of Lydden’s biggest events of the year,” enthused Biagioni.Drifiting

“Last year I got to do some runs in front of the crowds at the inaugural UK round of the World Rallycross Championship, so I feel extremely proud to have been asked back to do the same this season.

“On the face of it, the two disciplines of rallycross and drifting seem like worlds apart, but there are quite a few similarities in terms of the car control when you start to dig down. Holding the slides and getting right to the edge of traction, as well as managing the weight transfer is something that the rallycross drivers do instinctively; it’s very similar in drifting as well. Lydden is very much a home track for me, so it’s always great to be involved in the major events there – I can’t wait.”

Biagioni will be driving his Nissan S13 competition car which he successfully campaigned to multiple podiums last season.

Woodham, who is currently competing in the Pro Class of the British Drift Championship as well as being Monster Energy’s resident Gymkhana GRiD competition driver, will also be following up on an his appearance at last year’s World RX competition.

“I’m really excited to be able to run some drift demos on track again at World Rallycross this season,” said Woodham. “Last year was just incredible – on top of demoing to the home crowds at the event at Lydden, I got time on track at the Italian and Turkish rounds, as well as taking my car to the French round.

“Lydden is such a familiar circuit to me – I’ve lost count of the number of laps I’ve done round there. I went all out last year and blew up the rear tyres on my car running the demos, so I’m definitely looking forward to heading out and giving it my all again this year.”
